The How To of Meditation

The key to a successful meditation session is firstly you're decision to make the time and Secondly to make the commitment to yourself. Take the time to train your mind (just like you schedule in and take time at the gym to train your physical body) make the decision to practise training your mental, emotional and spiritual bodies.
As little as 15mins a day will assist you in being more productive, and have more clarity of thought. Reboot your mind and be more mentally alert, effective, relaxed and focused.

1. Find a comfortable place (either inside or outside) be sure your away from as many distractions as possible, switch off your phone and mobile, put a do not disturb sign on your door, cubicle or back of your chair!.
2. Sit with your back straight on the edge of a chair or cross legged on the floor. Alternatively you could stand in a medtative pose. Ensure your spine is straight (Imagine a string is tied to the top of your head which gently pulls you into place, with each vertabrae sits comfortably on top of the other). Hint: you can also gently rock your pelvis slowly backwards and fowards until you find the perfect positions. Rest your hands gently in your lap. Place the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth.
3. Now concentrate on your breathing, relaxing your body with each out breathe, allow your eyes to close. Notice what areas of your body which may feel tension or pain, concentrate on each of these areas and relax by using your out breathe to let go and release the tension.
4. Continue to relax and focus on the nothingness, "see everything without seeing anything, hear all without hearing anything, feel all without feeling anything" Enter the void by focusing on the space between your thoughts, or alternatively your own mantra, word or on the light behind your eyes.
Experiment with your own type of meditation, at different times of the day, see what works best for you. Exercise your ability to quickly access other states of consciousness (eg. from Beta to Alpha).
After each meditation I would encourage you to write down what insights, messages questions or actions you are now inspired and motivated to do, be or have after your during your session. Keep a log or journal of your own personal experiences.
